A Gentleman in Moscow, The Great Upheaval, Glucose Revolution, Stay Off My Operating Table and America’s Hidden Economic Engines. What are you watching? Bridgerton, A Minecraft Movie (with my grandchildren), Emily in Paris and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (I love the clothing, shoes and accessories along with the scenery and storylines). What are your hobbies/interests? Practicing gratitude daily; I am thankful every day for the people in my life, joy and abundance that I have been fortunate enough to receive. I also love to swim. it’s more than exercise; it’s a ritual that brings me calm, focus and joy. I also enjoy walking, which keeps me moving and connected to the outdoors. I make time for reading regularly; it’s a mental escape that nurtures my imagination, sharpens my focus and gives me space to reflect. I also enjoy spending time with my grandchildren, and want to be active and engaged in their lives for many years to come. My husband and I also breed golden retrievers and have loved doing this together. What was your childhood or earliest ambition? To be a singer and dancer. My denouement was in college when I was able to participate in the play “The King and I” and had the opportunity to share my skills. After that, I sang in the choir for four years in college. Where is your favorite place to vacation? The Oregon Coast is one of my favorite places to visit. I love being near the water with the waves crashing against the shoreline and just listening to how powerful and beautiful Mother Nature is in our world. I also love the food! What is your biggest extravagance? I love to travel, eat good food and purchase comfortable shoes! What motivates you to come to work? The students and the people with whom I get to work every day. I love making a difference in students’ lives and spending time with my work family. Who is your professional role model? Ruth Bader Ginsburg for inspiring women to break gender barriers, attending college (law school) while she had children at home, and later becoming a lawyer and Supreme Court Justice. Michelle Obama as first lady for championing childhood health and girls’ education. Abraham Lincoln for his perseverance in changing the legal status of around 3 million slaves in 1863 (the Emancipation Proclamation). What ambitions do you still have?
