Aiea & West Honolulu 228 Comprised of the neighborhoods of Salt Lake, Moanalua and Aiea, West Honolulu is surrounded by military bases including Fort Shafter, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Camp Smith and Tripler Army Center. Oahu’s three main highways of H1, H2 and H3 plus the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (aka Honolulu International Airport or HNL) merge here to create a convenient springboard for commuting to anywhere on the island or across the globe. When transitioning to Oahu, many military members choose to stay at nearby hotels or military communities. Harbor Shores Apartment Hotel is a pet-friendly, spacious option with a great view of the glistening Pacific Ocean. TLA-approved Airport Honolulu Hotel and Best Western The Plaza Hotel are additional pet-friendly options near HNL. You’ll find the military communities of Halsey Terrace and Radford Terrace, with both boasting comfortable amenities and larger sized housing (by Hawaii standards). The green suburban West Honolulu community is comprised of parks, golf courses and hiking trails enhancing multiple residential options that include single-family homes, townhomes, and high and mid-rise condominiums. With its desirable location, quality public schools and ample green spaces, West Honolulu is a convenient, comfortable community many military members and Kamaaina (local residents) call home. SALT TO PLANTATION TO URBAN MILITARY MECCA The Moanalua ahupuaa – or land division for early Hawaiian inhabitants – once stretched from the mountains above Salt Lake to the ocean where HNL is located today. In the center of the ahupuaa was a Aloha Stadium was home to the University of Hawaii Rainbow Warriors football team and Aloha Stadium Swap Meet. However, after 50+ years, the state has shuttered the Halawa facility to make way for a new stadium complex currently set to open in 2028. AIEA & WEST HONOLULU
