Hawaii Military Guide Summer/Fall 2025

Health Care 154 REGION EXTENSIONS • TriWest will accept unexpired Referrals and Pre-Authorizations from Humana Military that were issued prior to Jan. 1, 2025. These will be valid through their expiration or June 30, 2025, whichever comes first. • TriWest will also accept valid Referrals and Pre-Authorizations from Humana Military for those living in an East Region state moving to the new West Region as noted above. These will be valid through their expiration or June 30, 2025, whichever comes first. Those living in the new East Region will continue receiving Referrals and PreAuthorizations from Humana Military. • Existing referrals and pre-authorizations will remain valid until the approved expiration date. Whenever possible, it is recommended that you secure a new Referral or PreAuthorization before the old one expires or by July 1, 2025. Try to retain copies of all your Referrals and Pre-Authorizations, including those from your previous contractor. Or if you are not sure when you need a Referral or Pre-Authorization, check “Q&A: Getting and Using Referrals With TRICARE” on the TRICARE Newsroom at Newsroom.tricare.mil. Also visit Newsroom.tricare.mil/News/TRICARENews/Article/3306629/qa-getting-andusing-referrals-with-tricare. PROVIDER DIRECTORIES Note that in November 2024, TriWest and Humana Military published their respective network provider directories listing provider sub-specialties. This makes it easier to find providers for the exact type specialty care you need. Directories also note if providers offer telemedicine appointments. Those living in the new West Region should check the TriWest provider directory at Tricare.mil/west. You can also call TriWest at 888-TRIWEST (874-9378). For a full list of contactors and providers, visit Tricare.mil/partners. Note that if your provider is no longer a TRICARE Network Provider, you can keep seeing them and pay TRICARE Prime copayments. Check Tricare.mil/networkproviders to confirm your provider’s status. If the provider is not named on the Referral or Pre-Authorization, you will need to pay point-of-service fees. Again, be sure to secure a new Referral or PreAuthorization before the old one expires, or by July 1. When possible, keep copies of all your Referrals and Pre-Authorizations including those from your previous contractor. T-5 BENEFITS New T-5 contracts bring several improvements, including: • More efficient Referral transfers between the two regions • Greater access to highly specialized medical and surgical care • Improved choice, including virtual value network tools that help to quickly identify providers with the best outcomes • Better access to telehealth appointments Stay tuned for more information about T5 by signing up for email updates at Public.govdelivery.com/accounts/USMHSTMA/subscriber/new.
