Health Care 151 STATUS OF GUIDE CONTENT At time of publication, TRICARE information covered in this issue is current. Note that TRICARE policies and benefits are governed by public law and federal regulations. Changes are continually made as these laws and/or regulations are amended. grabbed the headlines during the past five years, 2025 is packed with major announcements on a more proactive, positive front resulting from updated regional T-5 Contracts, state-realignments and other improvements. On Jan. 1, 2025, TRICARE began delivering health care under its new regional T-5 contracts. T-5 provides health care services and administrative support for TRICARE beneficiaries. While TRICARE East and West Regions still exist, East Region states of Arkansas, Illinois, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Texas and Wisconsin have transitioned to the West Region. TriWest Healthcare Alliance has replaced Health Net Federal Services as the new regional contractor for TRICARE West Region, while Humana Military will continue as the regional contractor for the East Region. These TRICARE contract changes only affect those living in the United States. They do not impact those under TRICARE For Life or the US Family Health Plan. Contracts are expected to improve quality and access for beneficiaries in the U.S. through enhanced Referral management and access to Specialty Care. This also means care access will run smoother for those moving between regions.
