Recreation SUNRIVER’S PAVED PATHWAYS As its No. 1 amenity, Sunriver’s 34 miles of paved pathways create an opportunity to explore and discover the community by walking, running or biking without the need to get in your car. While on a ride or walk, you can learn about Sunriver’s history from the 20 interpretive signs along the pathways. Please note that all motorized transportation, such as Class 2-3 ebikes, one wheels, etc. along with skateboards, roller skates, etc. are prohibited on all Sunriver pathways. When using the paved pathways, please remember: • Bikes, pedestrians, etc. are not allowed on roads. • Walk or ride on the right side of the path. • Notify people ahead of you that you are passing them by calling out “On your left!” • State law requires helmets for all riders/passengers under 16 (this includes toddlers in bike trailers). • Never stop in the middle of the path or tunnel. • Dogs should be leashed and pick up their “deposits.” SUN-LAVA PATH The six-mile Sun-Lava multi-use paved pathway connects Sunriver to the Lava Lands Visitor Center. Starting at the wellmarked trailhead near Circle 7, the pathway is rideable by all ages with nice views, gradual curves and slopes. The Sun-Lava pathway features mileage markers and intersection signage to help users navigate to their intended destination. Sun-Lava will also lead you to the Benham Falls East Day Use Area on the bank of the Deschutes River. SUNRIVER TRAILS Take the paved pathways in Sunriver to reach the Sunriver Trails system located across the Cardinal Landing Bridge. This is a bike/hike/walk-in system as there is no parking available near Cardinal Landing Bridge. These trails offer miles of dirt and gravel paths for mountain biking, hiking and trail running. The trail is closed to all motorized transportation, including ebikes. Be sure to view the trailhead signs to learn about the different trails and applicable rules. BIKE RENTALS Many rental homes come equipped with bikes, but if they aren’t included or you didn’t bring your own, there are local shops where you can rent bicycles and accessories including toddler trailers, helmets and bike locks. Be sure to reserve bikes before your visit. Ages under 16 are required by law to wear a helmet and applies to youngsters riding in bike trailers. A headlight or reflectors are required if riding between dusk and dawn.
