The Sunriver Stars Community Theater (SSCT) invites community members and visitors to attend its performances for what promises to be an exciting and innovative 13th season. In 2025, the Sunriver Stars will feature three traditional shows, a Children’s Playwright Contest, a July 19 fundraiser featuring Sunriver Favorite Michael John, and the 7th Annual Children’s Drama Camp for students in kindergarten through eighth grade. SSCT’s first ever children’s playwright contest provided local playwrights with the opportunity to craft their original stories and bring them to life on stage. All the participants were invited to a free breakfast at Sunriver Resort, and the top three writers received $50 each plus their show being produced. THE 2025 EVENTS ARE: • “The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance” from April 25 to April 27 at The Door in Sunriver and May 2 and 3 at Legend Cider Co. in La Pine. The play is based on the Old West story and movie featuring John Wayne, Lee Marvin and James Stewart. • “Gilligan’s Island — The Musical” will have audience members singing along with a merry band of castaways. The play is from June 5 to June 7 at The Door in Sunriver. • “Under the Stars” is a fundraiser on July 19. • The seventh annual Kids’ Drama Camp is from Aug. 4 to Aug. 9. • Just in time for Halloween, the Sunriver Stars will perform “Voices.” A young couple arrive at an old house just before a snowstorm isolates them. Since her child’s death, the wife has been in a sanitarium and the guilt and tensions of the young couple’s tragic loss have all but destroyed their relationship. The wife begins hearing voices. A Dinner Theater performance, guests can choose to attend on Oct. 8 at Century Commons Taps and Trucks or Oct. 24 at Marcello’s in Sunriver.
