Jim Adkins truly started from the ground up. Showing up for his first day at Springs Construction, his grandfather’s business, a 16-year-old Jim was given a shovel and told to start digging. That first summer as a laborer was a lot of hard work and blisters—the perfect foundation for a lifelong career in construction. After graduating to work as a journeyman carpenter, learning everything from foundations to framing, and taking on various leadership roles, Jim became Springs Construction’s new president. He believes in treating his team like family—fitting for this third generation leader of the family business. Inspired by his grandfather—a man with a strong work ethic whose projects included San Mateo Bridge, Hangar One at Moffett Field and Disney’s Matterhorn rollercoaster—Jim strives to continue the company’s reputation as an exemplary and reliable construction company here in the Bay Area. He loves problem solving on projects and finds great satisfaction in that moment of completion when an idea finally becomes a home. You’ll continue to find Jim on the ground at the job site, working closely with his team and seeing projects through to the end.
