Punch Magazine Winter 25/26

As one of San Mateo County’s leading nonprofits, Samaritan House provides the foundation families need to weather uncertain times, including nutritious food, shelter, healthcare and financial assistance. Each year, Samaritan House offers thousands of low-income families, not just emergency relief, but a stable path forward. During the holidays, when the pressure to provide feels overwhelming, Samaritan House ensures families can give their children toys, warm coats and a festive meal. But for families living paycheck to paycheck, or with no paycheck, the struggle doesn’t end when the holidays are over. When the rent is due and there is no money left for groceries, when a sickness goes untreated because there’s no insurance, Samaritan House is there. All year round, families can count on rental assistance; free medical, dental and mental health care; weekly groceries; and the steady support of a community that won’t let them fall through the cracks. “The help I have received has changed my life.” —Anonymous client None of this would be possible without the generosity of our amazing donors and volunteers.
