Through Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula’s Future Grads program, Cristian received guidance navigating college applications and financial aid, ultimately selecting Chico State University. But when COVID hit during his senior year of high school, Cristian was isolated from peers and missed graduation milestones. His challenges continued into college where he began his first semester online and struggled to stay motivated. After landing on academic probation, Cristian knew he needed help. Cristian contacted Cynthia Duran who oversees Future Grads college programs. Together, they created a roadmap to help Cristian graduate on time. With this plan, Cristian made the Dean’s List for five semesters in a row! In Spring 2025, Cristian became the first in his family to graduate from college, earning a degree in business with zero student loan debt. He’s now building a career in sales at Tesla in Henderson, Nevada. Cristian is just one of 6,700 TK-college students served by Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula, the largest expanded learning provider in San Mateo County, operating 30 sites from Daly City to East Palo Alto.
